South African Airways is proud to be the official airline partner of the International Jazz Extravaganza (IJE), which takes place on 12 March 2022 at the Durban international Convention Centre.

SAA will carry the Grammy-award winner, Lee Ritenour, and the jazz juggernaut, Spyro Gyra, to the warmest city in the country for a night of pure jazz. This is the first edition of the International Jazz Extravaganza.

IJE was created to cater for the purists that enjoy pure jazz; the one-night-only extravaganza will see international artists entertain their audience with some of their best music to date. Together these jazz musos have put out more than 70 albums and have performed across the world more than 15, 000 times. This not only makes them icons – but legends of jazz. From the music that the fans have become accustomed to, to pieces that they have never played for South African audiences before, it will be a night to experience it all.

As one of our business objectives is to support South Africa’s national development agenda, music events, especially niche ones such as jazz, play a huge role in bringing international tourists to our country’s shores, which promotes local travel, and contributes to the country’s economic growth through sustainability of employment in the tourism sector.

Making the extravaganza even more exciting is the fact that this will be the band, Spyro Gyra’s performance debut in South Africa.

Beyond SAA, the official airline partner and the City of Durban, the Durban International Jazz Extravaganza is made possible by the support of its other partners, SA Tourism, Mzansi Magic, and Kaya FM.

Public tickets are available from Computicket whilst hospitality and travel packages are available at
