South African Airways (SAA) Revises Policy on Free Sporting Equipment

South African Airways (SAA) will no longer offer customers a free piece of sporting equipment, in addition to its free checked baggage allowance, for tickets issued from Friday 15th November 2019.

Prior to this date SAA had offered an additional piece of sporting equipment baggage, free of charge, over and above the normal free baggage allowance.

All new tickets issued on/after the 15th of November 2019, sporting equipment will form part of the free baggage allowance. If the free baggage allowance is exceeded, the standard excess baggage charges as reflected in South Africa Airways baggage policy will apply.

Tickets issued prior to the 15th of November 2019 for travel on/after the 15th of November 2019 will not be effected (nor tickets reissued on/after the 15th of November 2019, with the original ticket issued on/before the 15th of November 2019).

The move brings SAA in line with other airlines who do not offer free sporting equipment.
